Scary Supper – Halloween Food Ideas

For more of my art, please follow me on my Facebook Page here or my Instagram page here.

For the last several years, we’ve been hosting a “Scary Supper.” This is what we call our Halloween Party! Our next one is coming up soon. So, I’ve been going through photos of the things we’ve made in past years. (See them below).  Maybe you can get some ideas too.  I did not make any instructions for these, but have added in as many details as I can. If you have any specific questions, let me know in the comments and I’ll fill you in!

This Meatloaf Head was my favourite project so far. It has Olive Eyes and Onion Teeth and Ketchup Blood. Since I’ve sculpted faces with clay before, sculpting with ground beef was a similar. The texture is more wet than the clay though! I just moulded the shape with my hands until it looked right.  After it was baked, it didn’t look quite as recognziable. It looked like he got in a bit of a fight! 🙂  I think next time I will use extra lean ground beef as it would hold it’s shape better than regular ground beef (due to the lesser fat content).

Meatloaf foot with onion fingernails and Ketchup for blood. There is also a whole onion sliced off a bit in the ankle joint up at the top there. Basically, I just moulded the ground beef into the shape of a foot with my (yes bare) hands until it resembled a foot.

Wiener Fingers with Onion Nails and Ketchup Blood. These ones were so realistic, they were difficult to eat!

Meatloaf Hand with Onion Bone and Onion Fingernails. This photo is after it as cooked. I gotta say it looked better in it’s raw form! 😉  I used the same method as the hand and the foot above.

Meatball Mice. These were really gross and it truly it was the spaghetti tails and beady little peppercorn eyes that made them so disgusting! Made with 2 meatballs squished together. One smaller for the head and one more oval sized for the body. I then cut small carrot slices in half for the ears and put peppercorns in for the eyes and the nose. The whiskers and the tails were made with spaghetti. I boiled the spaghetti tails prior to adding them to the mice, but for the whiskers, I needed them more stiff, so left the spaghetti strands in their raw form.  Warning- make sure that you remove the peppercorn eyes and noses before people go to eat them as they can break a tooth!

Cookies with Cinnamon Shading and Almond Finger Nails. (I like the ones with the chipped nails the best!). These were made with a basic sugar cookie recipe. You know, the kind that you cut shapes out of.  Instead, I did not cut shapes out, but first rolled them into finger shapes, then shaped them with my hands. I used a knife to ‘cut’ wrinkles at the knuckle joints and then put a dent for the almond slice finger nail to sit in. Then I dusted the creases with cinnamon and baked as normal.

Octopus Biscuit over Chili. This is just a basic biscuit recipe that I added shredded cheese into the dough. Formed into the shapes, added green olives for eyes and baked right on top of the chili in the ramekin right in the oven.

Bandaids with Cream Cheese and Jelly. These are graham crackers, broken in quarters with a bit of cream cheese spread on top and a little dollop of strawberry jelly in the middle.

Baby Diarrhea Butterscotch Pudding (made especially for my sister-in-law who was expecting at the time. It was a surprise for her and her husband.)  I don’t think anyone except for my kids ate any!  By dessert, everyone’s appetites were ruined!  This was just an old doll belonging to my daughter and some instant butterscotch putting spread around it in a platter.

There are lots of ideas on Pinterest and I have gotten some of the my ideas from there, but all the photos above are my own and projects I have made.
